How to Rock the Orange Jumpsuit
Accentuate the waist with a belt. Dental floss, plastic bags, shoelaces: Any one or a combo of these items can be crafted into a fetching belt that will imbue the shapeless jumpsuit with a more flattering silhouette.
Go easy on the pre-incarceration fake-tanning. Reason? Three words: too much orange.
If you can smuggle in jewelry (you can't, but let's pretend), opt for silver or platinum. This cool metal will tone down and contrast with the warmth of orange.
Unbutton as much of the neckline as you can without looking sleazy.
Orange looks best worn on people who are categorized by color experts as "autumns," folks with reddish hair and fair complexions. Julianne Moore, for example. Alas, Paris, is a "spring," meaning pinks and corals are a better choice. In the absence of choice, an off-white T-shirt (one jailhouse wash of a white shirt and it'll be off-white) worn under the jumpsuit and visible at the neckline will act as a buffer.
Roll up the sleeves or pant legs to adjust for temperature and to vary the look. Don't let your cuffs drag and get dirty--slovenliness is a prison no-no because it indicates a lack of self-respect. Resist the temptation to permanently cut or crop sleeves or legs; maintain your right to coverage.
When all else fails, remember that orange is an attention-grabbing color. For a celebutante, better orange than something safe and boring like gray.
