Paris Under House ArrestThis is a featured page

June 8, 2007: Paris ordered back to jail
Seems like one night of 800-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets was all dear Paris got to experience. This morning Judge Sauer requested her appearance in court, and she tried to call in. The judge was not amused (though the media and everyone with TMZ.com bookmarked sure was). She was ordered into court and was brought in handcuffs, only to emerge later, teary-eyed, protesting "it's not right!" It's not a simple life, after all.

The Stranger Slog reports: This is a great day for America.

Paris Reassigned to House Arrest After Three Days
Paris is free!Wow, we barely got time to pop the popcorn! A sheriff's spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed in a press conference that Paris has been released from jail (June 7), saying that she will serve 40 days under house arrest wearing an ankle bracelet (do they make those at Tiffany's?). Best quote from the live press conference? "She has paid her debt to society."

The burning question:
Do you think Paris has paid her debt to society?

Details About Paris' Release
The official press release (posted by TMZ) stated:

After extensive consultation with Los Angeles County medical personnel, including doctors at the Century Regional Detention Facility, it has been determined that Paris Hilton will be reassigned to the Community-Based Alternatives to Custody: The CBAC program.

Ms. Hilton has been fitted with with an electronic monitoring device and will serve the remainder of her sentence confined to her home. She will now serve the full 45 day sentence. Ms. Hilton has been in custody for five days and therefore will be serving 40 days in the electronic monitoring program under the supervision of the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

I would LOVE to hear about what kind of care she can get at home that she can't get in jail. What about her saying that she was going to do her time and do it right? I'm beginning to wonder if jail wasn't another publicity stunt on her long list of PR moves. The world should not revolve around Paris Hilton.

Okay, so jail totally sucks, right? And I'm sure Paris had a rough few days, but do you think she's really paid her debt to society? Maybe to HIGH Society...

So now we learn -- quelle surprise -- that Paris wasn't suffering from physical ailments, but from mental trauma. It's too, too much! Who doesn't suffer psychological trauma serving time? I mean, really, how stupid do they think we are?
